Whether you're looking for a beautifully crafted afternoon pick-me-up or a stunning brunch-worthy beverage, this recipe transforms the serene ritual of matcha into a sweet and fruity escape. It’s a perfect harmony of rich, grassy notes and bright, berry-forward freshness that’s as delicious as it is satisfying to look at.

Ingredients

For the Matcha:

For the Strawberries:

  • About 85g strawberries
  • 2 tsp sugar

For the Milk:

  • ½ cup milk (or milk alternative)
  • 2 tbsp sugar (or sweetener of choice)

Instructions

1. Add the strawberries and sugar to a bowl. Use a muddler to crush the berries, releasing their juices and dissolving the sugar into a yummy syrup. (Optional: Throw this mixture into the fridge for 30 minutes to 1 hour for the sweetest results.)

2. Pour the ½ cup milk (or milk alternative) and mix with your choice of sweetener.

3. Sift the matcha powder into a bowl to avoid clumps. Add the hot water and whisk vigorously with a bamboo matcha whisk or frother until it is fully dissolved into a smooth, frothy liquid.

4. Assemble the Drink:

  • Spoon or pour the muddled strawberry and sugar mixture into the bottom of your glass.
  • Fill the glass to the top with ice cubes.
  • Slowly pour your prepared sweetened milk
  • Finally, gently pour the freshly whisked matcha over the milk layer.
  • Serve your latte as is for a stunning layered effect or give it a gentle stir before drinking to combine all the wonderful flavors.
